How to Manage Course Profile Enrolment Standards

Enrollment Standards Tab

The Enrollment Standards tab allows you to control the default Maximum Enrollment number when offerings are created in the Course Planner. This setting can be useful for courses where the Maximum Enrollment varies depending on the component type, season, section type, or campus. Setting up different standards can save time from having to manually change this number every time you create an offering.

This tab is optional. Each course will have a default Maximum Enrollment already, so it is not necessary to set this up for each course in order to do Course Planning.

  1. The Enrollment Standards are split up by Component type. If there is a Component type that is missing, use the Component Standards tab first to add the component type to the course.

  2. Click the   button to edit the Enrollment Standards.

  3. The default Enrollment Standards are displayed at the top. You can edit the Minimum and Maximum Enrollment numbers here.

  4. Click on the   to add Custom Enrollment Standards.

  5. Select from the available parameters:

    1. Season

    2. Session (if Summer season is selected)

    3. Section Type

    4. Campus

  6. Enter the Minimum (optional) and Maximum (required) enrollment numbers.

  7. Check the box 'Apply to 'Future' offerings already created in Course Planner' if you would like your new standards to be applied to the offerings you have already created in the Course Planner. This can save time by not having to manually edit all of the offerings.

  8. You can click  to save your changes. If you do not want to save the information, you can click  and your changes will not be saved.

How Enrollment Standards are Used on the Course Planner

Every time you create a new offering, the Maximum Enrollment field will read the available standards on the Course Profile. Based on the details that have been filled in for that offering, it will find a custom standard that matches these parameters and populate the Maximum Enrollment field. If there are no applicable custom standards, then it will revert back to the default "All-All-All-All" maximum enrollment (also on the Course Profile).

The standards are only used to populate the Maximum Enrollment field when creating offerings. Users can still edit this field manually for each individual offering if they wish to do so.

Conflict Resolution

As the user is allowed to select any parameters they like, there is the potential for conflicting custom Enrollment Standards. If there is more than one custom standard that could apply to an offering, the system will resolve the conflict by using the first applicable standard based on this order: Season → Session → Section Type → Campus.
