How to Manage Course Profile Settings

Course Settings Tab

The Course Settings tab allows you to control which courses will appear on the Course Planner and future reports in eTRACS. In the Course Planner, these settings will be helpful in filtering out courses not intended for course planning and assisting with cross-faculty planning for service, pathway, and minor courses. The Course Setting also provides other information about the course for reporting purposes, such as determining if the course has a final exam and/or requires course evaluations.

  1. In the Course Profile, click on the Course Settings tab.

  2. Click the  button to edit the information in Course Settings.

  3. Check all the settings that apply to the course (see below for detailed description).

  4. When you are done editing the information, you can click the button to save your changes. If you do not want to save the information, you can click  and your changes will not be saved.

Organizing the Planner View in the Course Planner

To hide courses that are not intended for planning, click the:

Hide from Course Planner checkbox → This will not delete any course profiles or course offerings. You may uncheck the box anytime when you wish to view the course in the Course Planner.

Using Course Settings

The following settings will help classify the different types of course profiles within your faculty/department. These settings will be used for filtering purposes and customization of the course planner view once the course profiles have been set up:

Courses that are for equivalencies for students when they register.

  • If course is identified as a 'transfer credit' course, it may be flagged to allow filtering in the planner.

Service Course

Large lower-division courses taken by students from many faculties.

  • If course is identified as being a 'service' course, it can be added by departments outside of the primary owner to their planning tool to enhance interdepartmental curriculum management. However, editing can only be done by the course owner.

  • May need to set up special alerts in cases of service course cancellations.

Pathway Course

  • If course is identified as a 'pathway' course, it may be flagged to allow filtering in the planner.

  • If course is identified as being part of the minor pathway, it becomes part of a 'minor' filter in the planner.

  • If course is identified as a 'non-credit' course (unchecked box), it may be flagged to allow filtering in the planner.
