How to Manage Course Profile Details

Course Details

The Course Details tab displays basic information about the course. The course profile is visible by anyone with access to eTRACS. Any editing features in the course profile will be restricted by academic unit and only available to users who are using this feature to perform their job duties.

Note: Information that is synced from an external source (e.g. SIMS) will be greyed out when editing the course details. For example, Course Subject and Course Number are greyed out since the information is synced with go.sfu.ca.

  1. Course additions, modifications, or deletions must go through the Senate approval process first.

  2. Once approved by Senate and made available in go.sfu.ca, the information will be available in eTRACS as a time-based job scheduler which will be run in the server to pull data from SIMS to eTRACS every night.

  3. For course planning purposes (Course Planner) in eTRACS, user can also create a new course in eTRACS before the course has been inputted in SIMS or gotten approval by Senate. Eventually the updates of all course information will be synchronized between SIMS and eTRACS in both directions to ensure data integrity.
