Salary Rates Management
Introduction
The purpose of the Salary Rates Management page is to set projected salary amounts for Term Faculty Appointment, TSSU Instructors, Overload Teaching Appointment and Teaching Assistants. It provides the user a brief estimate overview of how much each TI and TA/TM will cost a department/faculty, which will allow users to have a better budget estimate. The user will need to set this up prior to work being done on the worksheets. Please note that these are purely generic amounts to help budget and may not be the final amount to be used in the contracts.

Salary Rates Management Cards
The card allows the user to set projected salary amounts for the employment groups. The rates and formulas are pre-set, but custom blends can be set for Term Faculty Employment and Teaching Assistants. While the Term Faculty Appointment, TSSU Instructors and Overload Teaching Appointment calculations are set at the university level and will mostly remain unchanged, the TA calculations can vary significantly by each department and faculty. These pre-set calculations come from the collective agreement and the salary scales. Please refer below to see the formulas used for each employment group:
Â
Employment Group | Formula |
---|---|
Term Faculty Appointment | ((Floor * (1+ General Wage Increase + Economic Stability Dividend)) +Blended Salary Step Increase) / 8Â |
TSSU Instructors | (Base * Contact Hours) + (Base * Prep) |
Overload Reaching Appointment | Base * (Contact Hours + Prep) |
Teaching Assistants | Estimated Base Units * Blended TA Base |
Blended Rates
Custom blends can be set for Term Faculty Employment and Teaching Assistants to account for variation. For Term Faculty Employment, this difference comes from the blended step increase. For Teaching Assistants, this difference comes from the blended TA base, which reflects the ratio of undergraduate, masters, PhD students and external candidates that become Teaching Assistants. Custom blends can be set at the department and faculty level.
