Budget Allocation

Introduction


The purpose of the Budget Allocation page is to set budget limits to each department of a faculty to ensure that the budget is not exceeded for the fiscal year. This total budget is provided by the Faculty Asset Management. The Budget Allocation page is entirely optional and does not affect any dollar amounts – it only serves as a reference point for managers on how their budge compares to the target assigned to them.

How to Navigate the Budget Allocation


The Budget Allocation page consists of two components: filter and budget allocation cards. The filter allows the user to narrow down the budget allocation cards. The budget allocation card is for inputting the budget amounts in a specific fiscal year.

Filter

The filter contains two fields: Fiscal Years and Faculties. The fiscal year will be pre-set to the current period. One or more options can be selected at once from the Fiscal Years field. Furthermore, the faculty will be pre-set according to the user.

Budget Allocation Cards

 

The budget allocation cards allow the user to enter the total budget available for their faculty and the desired amount for each department within that faculty. When the user is entering the desired amount for each department, they can enter the budget either in terms of percentages or dollar amount. The other field will automatically populate with the equivalent value. For flexibility, the user can save with department(s) being allocated an amount greater than the faculty budget. After allocating the budget for each department, the user will be able to see the total allocated amount and the amount remaining.

How to Use the Budget Allocation


  1. Select the fiscal year(s) using the filter. Click .

  2. Click  on the top right of the card.

  3. Enter the budget into Total Budget Available for Faculty.

  4. Select Schools/Departments/Programs using the drop down menu.

  5. Enter the allocated amount in percentage or dollar amounts.

  6. If necessary, click  to add another school, department or program.

  7. Click .

How to Find the Budget Allocation


  • Head to the menu drop down under Budget Mgmt > TI/TA Budget Planner

  • Select Budget Allocation
